The book calls it simply Childgrove  not The Childgrove.  It's listed as a traditional English "aire."

Chris Carroll

I think that by "The Childgrove" Chuck merely meant that there is one tune of that name that is very, very well known, which has been around for centuries, not that "The" was part of the name.  I could easily be wrong, but that's how I took it.  I personally have met it as an English country dance tune, as well as in recordings.  (That is, there's an English country dance which is danced to that tune; that's the norm in ECD.)  There may be another old tune of that name, but if so it's not the tune widely known by that name.  By now I'd say it's unlikely that anyone else reading this list is familiar with the tune you're asking about, since no one has come up with helpful suggestions; I might of course be wrong about that, too.  But certainly I myself know only the one tune.

You could look at this:

But of course that's referring to THE Childgrove.

I'm also not familiar with the book you cite, but you might try contacting the author (or editor or compiler or whatever) with your question.
