I've noticed that several makers use .125" (1/8") diameter delrin rod for their bridge caps. Is there a specific reason why a larger rod (like .25" (1/4")) which is 1/4 the price is not used? I would assume the bridge height could be adjusted/lowered slightly to compensate for the difference in diameter. Does the diameter affect the tone/tuning stability? Or is this an aesthetic choice?
